The NHL trade rumours for this year's free agency have begun looming, and an insider has just revealed two specific names fans should keep in mind for this year's offseason involving a potential player swap on the horizon.
The Philadelphia Flyers' Cam York and the Boston Bruins' Nikita Zadorov
Could a straight-up swap be on the horizon for these organizations?
Let's take a look:
Cam York is a young, offensively inclined defenseman, who has shown flashes of brilliance within his career, however, he has also faced with the wrath of John Tortorella (who has just been fired).
The altercation between this young defenseman and his head coach concluded in York being benched, followed by his apology, which ultimately signalled a disconnect within his organization.
While York's raw talent is noted, he has also faced issues with his consistency. However, the Boston Bruins are in desperate need for more offensive punch from their blue-liner, and landing talent like this would be ideal for the organization.
The 24-year old, Cam York, is currently a pending RFA, which would offer the Bruins a long-term investment with the skill the team is currently lacking in.
Nikita Zadorov is currently in a comparable position to Cam York at the moment in regards to disconnect within his organization.
His recent post-game comments, mocking Jeremy Swayman, followed by an apology and then quickly after he suddenly had a 'family issue' absence, displaying this player may need a change of scenery as well.
Zadorov's experience and physical presence would be extremely valuable to the Philadelphia Flyers, even with the defenseman still currently in a $5 million AVV for five more years, this may be the kind of player this organization is looking for and will to spend good money on.
Although there is no confirmation yet defying whether or not this swap will occur, the probability is very high.
