Boston Bruins are now officially apart of an embarrassing NHL record following a recent announcement

As the clock ran out in Game 6 when Los Angeles took on Edmonton, Kings fans likely felt heartbroken, thinking their team was the only one to lose to the same opponent, in their case the Edmonton Oilers, four years in a row in the first round of the playoffs.

However, they are not alone.

The Boston Bruins faced a similar embarrassment in the mid 1980's, losing to their rivals, the Montreal Canadiens, in the first round every year from 1984 to 1987.

Despite the unfortunate circumstances for both the Kings and the Bruins, Los Angeles can take hope from the Bruins' story, due to the fact the Bruins bounced back in 1988 following those four straight losses.

In 1988, the Bruins avoided Montreal in the first round and defeated the Buffalo Sabres in six games, and in the second round, they got their revenge by beating the Canadiens in five games.

Although the Boston Bruins and LA Kings are the only two organization's to hit this embarrassing NHL record, we can hope that Boston can flip the script for a second time around, as they were still able to win the Cup in 2011, while they prepare for the 2025/26 NHL season.
