Brad Marchand recently spoke on why he wanted out of Boston when he was featured on a episode with Sportsnet.

The Boston Bruins had a super disappointing year this year after making some big moves in the off-season, and many believed that they were going to be a more competitive team.
Don Sweeney signed both Elias Lindholm, and Nikita Zadorov to big contracts in the off-season, but they didn't really fit well with the team right away. It was only towards the end of the year that both players started to look like they actually fit in with the organization.
Not only that, but Jeremy Swayman looked horrible for the Boston Bruins after signing a massive eight-year contract extension just two days before the regular season began.
Swayman started 58 games for the Bruins during the 2024-25 season and had a record of 22-29-7 with a 3.11 GAA, and a .892 SV%. It's safe to say that he played nowhere near good enough for the Boston Bruins.
To cap things off of their already disappointing season, General Manager Don Sweeney decided to trade captain Brad Marchand to the Florida Panthers, but it was later revealed that Marchand ultimately requested a trade to Florida during the NHL trade deadline.
Now Marchand has spoken out on why he wanted to go to the Panthers, a team the Boston Bruins have a big rivalry with.

Marchand Speaks On Wanting Out Of Boston

Recently, Sportsnet dropped a video featuring Brad Marchand, and was asked why he wanted to be traded to the Florida Panthers, this is what he had to say:
«That was the team that I wanted to be traded to. You're looking for the best opportunity to chase a cup.» 🐆

Brad Marchand and his Panthers teammates discuss him joining the team and quickly building chemistry.
Don Sweeney offered Brad Marchand multiple contracts, in which he rejected all of them, and ultimately had his mind set on going to the Florida Panthers to chase another Stanley Cup.
