Morgan Geekie has evolved into a forward the Boston Bruins have relied on, and he's survived the trade deadline, but what does the future hold for the forward?

Morgan Geekie signed with the Boston Bruins on July 1st, 2023, as a free agent. Fans and pundits were unsure of how he'd fit into the team's lineup, but since then, he's been a key piece on the roster.
During the attrition of the March trade deadline that saw GM Don Sweeney ship the old core out of TD Garden, Geekie and other young players remain.
Fortunately, he's survived and will have a chance to remain in Black and Gold, continuing to contribute to the team's future successes. Or will he?
This season with the Bruins, he's scored 42 points (15 goals, 27 assists) and has found himself on the team's 1st-line with Pavel Zacha and David Pastrnak.
Don Sweeney thinks Morgan Geekie has been a great addition to the Bruins' lineup.
«He's done a great job obviously,» Sweeney told NHL.com's Amalie Benjamin recently. «He's earned more opportunity now. He's riding shotgun in a very productive line, and he's taken advantage of it. It's great on him.»

Instead of trading him, it sounds like Morgan Geekie has found himself a new home long-term on a retooling Boston Bruins team, with Sweeney's backing.
The executive continued: «Can he continue to expand his game and be one of the building blocks and core pieces moving forward? That's what we're going to try and find out this summer. He's identified, this is a place that he wants to play and we've got work to do to find a contract and that's what we'll do. I believe we'll get one done.»

Not only is he playing alongside Pastrnak and Zacha, but he has also found himself on special teams.
Now occupying the team's top power-play unit with Mason Lohrei, Elias Lindholm, Casey Mittelstadt, and Pastrnak.
He's found himself a new home wearing the spoked-B, after making his way through the Carolina Hurricanes system, and Seattle Kraken.
Which means, that Don Sweeney will have to lock down Geekie to a long-term deal after his contract that pays him $2 million AAV expires in July.
