The captain has spent his entire career with the Boston Bruins organization, and has stated multiple times this year that he wants to be a Bruin for the rest of his NHL career, but ultimately the organization is going to do what they want.
Well today, Boston Bruins general manager Don Sweeney held a press conference and he may have just confirmed what is going to happen on the March 7th NHL trade deadline with Marchand.
Don Sweeney Speaks On Brad Marchand's Future
At the press conference today, Don Sweeney was asked about what is going on with captain Brad Marchand, and he stated that they are still in conversations with him regarding an extension.
Now this doesn't confirm that the Bruins are going to lock him up, but it does signal that they are not going to trade him at the NHL trade deadline that is right around the corner.
Take a look:
Bruins remain in conversations about an extension with Brad Marchand.
The 36-year-old may be aging, but his game is still solid. He just got back from winning gold with Team Canada at the 4 Nations tournament, and this year he has 20 goals, 25 assists, for 45 points in 58 games which is still solid.
Trading Brad Marchand would be a terrible idea for the Bruins organization, and would be a terrible move for Don Sweeney.
