Boston Bruins Linus Ullmark revealed his true feelings regarding the Maple Leafs
Boston Bruins goaltender Linus Ullmark revealed his true feelings about the Toronto Maple Leafs and their goaltending in the playoffs.
In a recent interview Ullmark took some shots at Leafs goalie Ilya Samsonov, but praised Joseph Woll.
Linus Ullmark will more than likely be traded this off-season as the Bruins are looking to free some cap space to sign Jeremy Swayman long-term and are also looking to add scoring up front.
With all the rumours going around, Ullmark made an appearance on 'Leafs Morning Take' yesterday and opened up about his current situation he is in, and the Leafs goaltending during the playoffs.
"I was surprised that they kept Samsonov for that many games against us in the playoffs because every time we played the Leafs and he (Woll) was in net, it felt like it was more of a challenge," said Ulmark.
Ullmark obviously doesn't think too highly of Samsonov and how he played during the playoffs, but praised Joseph Woll on how he played.
"Just watching him, it looked like he was so much more in control of the situations that were thrown at him. As a goalie and I think players as well, they feed off these things. If you see a guy that is flopping around too much or letting out crazy rebounds, feeling like they are always struggling with it then you are going to be on a little bit more of an edge compared to if you have a goaltender that can contain the pucks or put them in areas they are not a threat.
He's like every young goaltender nowadays. He's technically sound. The only thing that might stop him is the mental game. That does not happen over night, it comes down to experience, but he has come a long way in a short time and I think he looks terrific. He looks like a really good goaltender."
There is a lot of sense that the Toronto Maple Leafs are moving on from Samsonov and if they aren't able to acquire a goaltender, Woll might just be their number one heading into next year.
