It's been no secret that the Boston Bruins power play has been awful this season, and Friday night when the Bruins hosted the Pittsburgh Penguins at TD Garden the power play had some big chances for them, but were unable to capitalize on any of their opportunities.
Their biggest opportunity came in the third period while being down 2-1 to the Penguins when Michael Bunting was called for holding the stick with roughly 7 minutes remaining in the third period.
The Bruins would go 0-3 on the power play, and now the team is making some big changes to both of their units.
Here are the new units the Bruins are running with on the power play:
Something needed to be done, as the power play just doesn't look like it's meshing together and the Bruins are hopeful that these changes will help them get their power play going.
As of right now the Boston Bruins currently hold the second worst power play unit in the league just behind the New York Islanders. The Bruins currently have a 12.0% power play on the year, and the Islanders aren't far behind with 11.9%.
If these changes don't work, it's unclear what will work, but if nothing does change soon the Bruins will hold the worst power play percentage in the league, which just doesn't make sense with the type of players they have on their unit.
