Charlie McAvoy speaks on his new leadership role with the Boston Bruins
Training camp is right around the corner, and the Boston Bruins have officially hosted one of their first practices of the year with their captain's practice taking place the other day.
Expectations have not changed for the Boston Bruins, and they know this.
For the first time in a very long time, the Boston Bruins are going to be entering a season without a captain.
Marco Sturm confirmed earlier in the year whenever he was hired, that the Boston Bruins were not going to have a captain entering the season.
He and David Pastrnak are both going to be the leaders on the team for the Bruins since
Brad Marchand's departure from the organization.
«You don't want to change too much of who you are,» McAvoy said. «But that doesn't mean that we can't become better versions of ourselves, better hockey players, better people.» McAvoy said, via Matt Vautour of MassLive.
On Tuesday, the Bruins had an informal skate where roughly 25 players ended up attending.
Following the practice,
McAvoy also had this to say:
«You don't want to change too much of who you are. All of us have been selected to be part of this leadership group because of who we are...but that doesn't mean we can't become better versions of ourselves, better hockey players, better people." --
