The Boston Bruins are still looking to get better before entering the new season, and now there is a chance that a former defenseman could be returning back to the organization.

Although Don Sweeney made a bunch of moves this off-season, a lot of them were very underwhelming.
There have been some talks that the Boston Bruins are looking to get better on defense before entering the new season, and a good opportunity has risen for them.
It's getting to the point where teams are going to start offering out professional tryout contracts (PTOs).
The Bruins have done this multiple times over the years, and did so with Tyler Johnston last year.
Now they have a chance to do this with a former defenseman who is coming off of a career year.

Boston Bruins may sign former defenseman Matt Grzelcyk to a PTO

With spring training coming up, Matt Grzelcyk is still surprisingly a unrestricted free agent.
Grzelcyk had a career year after signing a one-year contract with the Pittsburgh Penguins going on to score 1 goal, and set new career high in assists with 39, and points with 40.
During his time in Pittsburgh, he made a huge impact on the power play, recording 15 power play points which was also a new career-high for him.
Considering Grzelcyk spent the first eight-years of his career with the Boston Bruins, it would make sense to see the two sides agree on a PTO.
Defensive depth is hard to come by, and the Bruins ended up learning this the hard way last season after losing both Lindholm and McAvoy to season ending injuries.
