Former Boston Bruins defenseman to return to the organization? It could be in the works
Although Don Sweeney made a bunch of moves this off-season, a lot of them were very underwhelming.
There have been some talks that the Boston Bruins are looking to get better on defense before entering the new season, and a good opportunity has risen for them.
It's getting to the point where teams are going to start offering out professional tryout contracts (PTOs).
Now they have a chance to do this with a former defenseman who is coming off of a career year.
Boston Bruins may sign former defenseman Matt Grzelcyk to a PTO
With spring training coming up, Matt Grzelcyk is still surprisingly a unrestricted free agent.
Grzelcyk had a career year after signing a one-year contract with the Pittsburgh Penguins going on to score 1 goal, and set new career high in assists with 39, and points with 40.
During his time in Pittsburgh, he made a huge impact on the power play, recording 15 power play points which was also a new career-high for him.
Considering Grzelcyk spent the first eight-years of his career with the Boston Bruins, it would make sense to see the two sides agree on a PTO.
Defensive depth is hard to come by, and the Bruins ended up learning this the hard way last season after losing both Lindholm and
McAvoy to season ending injuries.
