Completed signing by Boston Bruins Don Sweeney: He made a big mistake
During the off-season, Bruins General Manager Don Sweeney made a bunch of signings, but this one has proven to be a big mistake.
In free agency, Boston Bruins General Manager Don Sweeney ended up focusing on signing depth players and only depth players.
Other than that, he ended up trading for
Viktor Arvidsson, who has performed well in the Bruins' top six.
At the NHL trade deadline last year, after trading
Brandon Carlo to the Toronto Maple Leafs, Sweeney needed to replace him.
"Boston Bruins General Manager Don Sweeney announced today, March 7, that the team has acquired defenseman
Henri Jokiharju from the Buffalo Sabres in exchange for a 2026 fourth-round draft pick (originally from Edmonton)."
-NHL.com
Jokiharju was on an expiring contract, and instead of looking for someone to replace him in free agency, Sweeney signed him to a three-year, $3 million contract.
This signing is starting to look terrible by Sweeney, and it may have been a mistake.
Sweeney made a big mistake resigning Jokiharju
Jokiharju has been terrible for the Bruins this season, even playing sheltered third-line minutes.
Last night was another perfect example of that whenever he finished once again at the bottom of the impact card.
think I'm done with the Jokiharju experience. he makes everyone around him worse which you can see on paper and with your eyes. Steeves is also just not doing it for me in the top six. bottom six? sure he can check, but I just don't see it personally.
He has been a big liability for the Bruins this season. It may be time to take him out of the lineup and give someone else a chance.
