Boston Bruins defenseman Charlie McAvoy is going to be out indefinitely after undergoing surgery.
On Wednesday, following practice, the
Bruins head coach announced that McAvoy is going to be out indefinitely after having facial surgery.
Last Saturday, while facing off against the Montreal Canadiens, the star defenseman suffered an
injury after taking a puck to the face from
Noah Dobson.
McAvoy instantly dropped down to the ice and needed help to get off the ice.
After days of not having any updates on the health of McAvoy, yesterday head coach Marco Sturm finally gave one.
McAvoy out indefinitely after having surgery
Sturm stated that McAvoy had successful surgery and is at home recovering right now. He also stated that there is no timeline on his return.
«He's doing good. He's recovering right now at home, and we still don't know how long he's going to be out for,» Sturm said on Wednesday.
This season,
McAvoy has 0 goals and 14 assists in 19 games played, leading the Bruins in ice time per game.
Without McAvoy in the lineup, the Bruins defense features Zadorov, Lindholm, and Lohrei on the left side and Jokiharju, Peeke, and Aspirot on the right.
The Bruins struggled once again without their star defenseman last night, losing to the Anaheim Ducks and now drop to 12-10-0 on the season.
