Completed trade between the Bruins and Maple Leafs: It just took an unexpected turn
At the 2025 NHL trade deadline, the Bruins and Maple Leafs combined for a trade, and now it's taken an unexpected turn.
The Bruins made some big changes during last year's NHL trade deadline, trading away some key pieces, but one trade has stood out and has taken an unexpected turn.
Minten is a smart two-way player with some offensive upside, but entering the season there was no guarantee that he was going to make the Bruins roster.
He did end up making the Bruins roster out of camp as their third-line center and recently got promoted.
During their most recent game, Sturm made some line changes and put Minten on the top line, centering Khusnutdinov and Pastrnak.
And now there is a chance that we could see him there more often.
Minten takes advantage of opportunity
Sturm was asked about moving
Minten to the top line and if this is something we could see more often, and this is what he had to say:
Asked Sturm today about the Khusnutdinov-Minten-Pastrnak line and if we could see more of it moving forward:
"Sometimes it's my gut. But to tell you the truth, I knew that was coming. I just didn't know it was that early. Could we see it again? Absolutely."
It's crazy to think that Minten wasn't even a lock to make the Bruins roster out of camp, and now he is getting chances with the top line.
This is definitely one of Don Sweeney's best trades.
