Confirmed: Boston Bruins GM Don Sweeney to address a massive need with this move
A recent turn of events has surfaced in a recent mock trade, suspecting that the Boston Bruins are going big at center this offseason.
Whilst the Boston Bruins kick off their re-tooling process as the offseason has begun, one main focal point to this organization should prioritize is their dire need for a franchise center.
The Bruins roster has been struggling immensely lacking in this area, however, luck enough, Boston's chances of acquiring a stud have been higher than ever.
Just recently, the organization scored a top-10 pick in a center-heavy draft, meaning the chances of filling this role have just gotten better.
With this being said, the Bruins are in a position to make a franchise-altering decision, and a new shocking mock trade has revealed who Boston is expected to acquire with their No. 7 overall draft selection.
A recent mock trade has revealed the Boston Bruins organization is set to land one of the most intriguing names on the board: Roger McQueen
A reporter from The Athletic, Corey Pronman, recently announced a mock trade including a full projection of al 224 picks on the market this summer, and in this report, the Bruins organization landed a very unexpected forward, Roger McQueen.
The Brandon Wheat Kings standout checks several boxes for the Boston Bruins.
At an impressive 6-foot-5, 192 pounds, McQueen offers NHL size alongside a smooth set of skills and drive.
According to
EliteProspects, McQueen not only has size, he also brings an outstanding amount of talent to the table, as this 18-year old is capable of navigating through tight spaces with easy, while having beautiful stick-handing abilities and strong vision.
McQueen has also been revealed to be able to use his length to maintain possession and exploit passing lanes.
However, one downside to the Bruins acquiring this forward, is that McQueen's draft stock unfortunately comes with some real risk.
The 18-year old endured just 17 games this past season, due to an unforeseen lower back problem, that was later diagnosed as a stress fracture to his lower spine (known as spondylolysis).
Luckily, it is a treatable injury, so if the Bruins' front office believes this back injury won't linger, McQueen could be the high rewards swing Boston is in desperate need of.
Do you think the Boston Bruins should acquire Roger McQueen with the team's No. 7 draft pick this offseason?
