Will the Boston Bruins organization acquire the Edmonton Oilers' top-forward, Connor McDavid, next campaign? New insight has unfolded, and it's intriguing.

The Boston Bruins organization is seemingly in need of veteran talent, especially following the departure of the organization's former veteran captain, Brad Marchand.

Will the Edmonton Oilers' Connor McDavid replace the Boston Bruins' former captain Brad Marchand?

Although this sounds like a dream for Bruins fans, let's dissect the potential of this legend landing in Boston.
An insider, Chris Johnston of The Athletic, recently appeared on The Steve Dangle Podcast, and was questioned regarding whether or not teams are prepping themselves for the possibility of acquiring this forward.
He revealed three specific teams that came to mind, and unfortunately for Boston, the Bruins were not one of them.
Chris Johnston stated the following:
«I'm sure it has occurred to the Los Angeles Kings. I'm sure it has occurred to the New York Rangers. You don't think Julien BriseBois down in Tampa Bay is looking at his long-term roster?

Obviously, there's 31 teams that would like to have him, but there's probably 10 teams that would think they'd be in the running if they ever got a chance.»

Johnston continued to reveal that there are two crucial aspects that any team hoping to run for McDavid would need.
1. You need to have the cap space to sign him
McDavid has been estimated to sign a new deal at around $20M average annual value (AAV), so any team interested would undoubtedly need the cap space to do so.
2. You need to be able to «prove to him demonstrably» that he will have the chance to win a Stanley Cup
McDavid has yet to earn himself a Stanley Cup, despite his insane skill and the Oilers' numerous postseason contention runs.
Johnston continued:
"If you can line it up like that," concludes Johnston, "I think you're in the ballgame.

"We all know there's no negotiation-literally, he's going to pick his terms, more or less, right? So it's about everything else around that: 'We can make you the highest paid player in the game, and this is why we're gonna win, and this is our plan'."

At this moment, it does not seems so promising for the Boston Bruins to acquire Connor McDavid, due to the fact the organization is currently in a retool and isn't big enough contenders at the moment to fight for the Cup.
