Contract in the works: It was just confirmed for the Boston Bruins and top UFA defenseman

The Boston Bruins organization has shown immense interest in multiple free agents thus far into the offseason as the team continues to fixate on their re-tool.

And one specific name on the market, which has been linked to the Boston Bruins, is the Columbus Blue Jackets' defenseman, Dante Fabbro, and a recent announcement has unveiled his future free agency plans.

Yesterday, June 16, a reporter announced that he has been hearing progress on a long-term extension between Fabbro and the Columbus Blue Jackets.

This 26-year old is suggested to be locked in with the Columbus Blue Jackets, meaning he is expected to stay put and no longer hit the open market on July 1st for free agency.

Despite the speculation, it is not confirmed whether or not this defenseman will receive the extension or hit the market.

But, in the meantime, Boston Bruins' general manager, Don Sweeney, and the front office, are in desperate need to seek alternative defensive strength to add to their roster this offseason.

With only a couple more weeks left until July 1st, Sweeney and the organization need to be competitive and strategic when it comes to their moves, in order to earn some strength within the Bruins' re-tooling process.
