Don Sweeney's recent controversial roster move was the right one for the Bruins

Don Sweeney made some controversial roster moves before the beginning of the season, but it seems like it was the right move.
After the Bruins made their final roster cuts, and selected their opening night roster, Providence Bruins were left with a bunch of talent.
Three of the top leading scorers in the AHL last season were sent back down to the AHL in Matt Poitras, Fabian Lysell and Matej Blumel.
On paper, the Providence Bruins look like a dominant team, but they have to put the work in. After making the cuts, Sweeney was hopeful that this would motivate some of the players sent back to the AHL.
Don Sweeney made the right move
The Providence Bruins have played two games already, and it seems like being cut from the NHL roster has motivated some of the players.
Merkulov had a terrible training camp with the Bruins, but is making a big impact with Providence, scoring the first goal of the season. Later on he assisted on the game winner as well.
Poitras and Lysell didn't have a good first game, but turned things around in game 2 where they both went off.
Lysell ended up scoring a hat trick, while Poitras ended up picking up four assists, both of them proving to the front office that they deserve to be in the NHL.

They are going to have to continue to perform like this, and do it consistanly for the Bruins to give them a chance in the NHL.
It seems like at some point, they are definitely going to get a chance with the NHL roster this year.
