It's no doubt that the Edmonton Oilers are looking to upgrade their goaltending situation, and they may steal a goaltender from the Bruins.
After losing in back-to-back Stanley Cup Finals, it's become clear that the Oilers need an upgrade in goal.
NHL insider Jeff Marek recently revealed that the Edmonton Oilers tried to trade for Arturs Silovs from the Vancouver Canucks, but he ended up getting traded to the Pittsburgh Penguins instead.
General Manager Patrik Allvin announced today that the #Canucks have acquired F Chase Stillman and a fourth-round pick in the 2027 NHL Entry Draft from the Pittsburgh Penguins in exchange for G Artūrs Šilovs.
New details have emerged, revealing the Boston Bruins and Edmonton Oilers may once again combine for a trade.
Oilers looking to take a goaltender from the Bruins?
According to The Sheet podcast, they believe that the Boston Bruins have a similar situation to Silovs' in Vancouver.
Like Silovs, Michael DiPietro has been a beast in the AHL, but is stuck down the teams depth chart, which could lead to him being traded.
The Bruins acquired DiPietro from the Canucks in 2022, and now he could be traded once again after not seeing a single game in the NHL.
Jeff Marek believes that the Edmonton Oilers are going to try their hardest to acquire DiPietro from the Boston Bruins:
«There's another Silovs situation happening in the NHL; in Boston, with Michael DiPietro; I just wanted to put lob that out there for Oilers fans; you might not have got your Artus Silovs, but you may get a Michael DiPietro.»
