Elliotte Friedman Just Confirmed A Former 4th Overall Picks Fate With The Boston Bruins
Yesterday, a former 4th overall pick was placed on the NHL waiver wire for the purpose of contract termination, giving the Bruins a perfect chance to make a change without having to lose anything.
Puljujarvi (PIT) on unconditional waivers to terminate
Puljujarvi is in his second year of a 2-year contract he signed with the Penguins with a cap hit of $800,000 a season.
This was the perfect chance for the Boston Bruins and Don Sweeney to make a move. Sweeney has stated that he isn't happy with his current roster, and he could have acquired Puljujarvi for free without giving up any assets.
Puljujarvi hasn't been properly given an opportunity to prove himself, and has dealt with some major injuries which has probably played a big role in not being able to perform.
Originally he was drafted by the Edmonton Oilers in the 2016 NHL Entry Draft, 4th overall, but hasn't truly established himself to be a full time NHL player. There has only been two times in his career where he has played 65 games and both came when he was a member of the Edmonton Oilers.
