A major development recently revealed by Elliotte Friedman has just confirmed that things could have been very different for Bra Marchand at the NHL trade deadline.

General Manager Don Sweeney has made some unfavourable moves this past NHL trade deadline.
Now he is facing some tough consequences for it.
The Bruins fan base has suddenly turned on the General Manager following a disastrous deadline that involved the trade of their longtime fan favourites captain, Brad Marchand.
This left a bad taste in the Original Six fan bases mouth.
Following the completion of the 2024-25 season Don Sweeney's got a lot of retooling to do, but he could have made things a lot easier with a reported deal that fell through with the L.A. Kings.

Brad Marchand nearly went to the LA Kings

According to Sportsnets Elliotte Friedman, Brad Marchand was originally supposed to head to the L.A. Kings, in which would have got the Bruins organization a much greater return.
Per @FriedgeHNIC latest «32 Thoughts»

«(Los Angeles) had a deal with Boston, only to find out Marchand wanted Florida.»
The Los Angeles Kings had much more cap space available at the deadline, compared to the Florida Panthers, alongside many more assets available, that would have given the Bruins a much greater return.
This is just another fall out for the Boston Bruins General Manager Don Sweeney, that somehow still lead to a two-year contract extension.
Do you think Brad Marchand would have liked going to the Los Angeles Kings?
