The Boston Bruins are looking to improve heading into the 2025-26 season, and it seems like they may be in a bidding war for a hard hitting defenseman.

Pending restricted free agent defenseman Alexander Romanov has not publicly been made available on the trade market, but the Boston Bruins and another team have reached out to the Islanders on him.
It was revealed that Romanov could catch a contract between the $5-6 million range.
When Romanov was originally traded by the Montreal Canadiens at the 2022 NHL Draft, it took the Islanders 13th overall pick.
We could see the Bruins offer something similar for him.

Bruins in a bidding war

According to James Murphy of RG Media, the Boston Bruins aren't the only team interested in Romanov.
Murphy stated that the Philadelphia Flyers have also reached out to the Islanders regarding his availability.
Flyers and Bruins are among teams looking at Alexander Romanov as new Islanders GM Mathieu Darche continues to improve his team.
The Boston Bruins and New York Islanders have reportedly discussed the 7th overall pick, as the Islanders are interested in drafting James Hagens.
With $26 million in cap space, and a bunch of assets, Don Sweeney could easily swing a trade to acquire Romanov.
Acquiring a hard hitting defenseman like Romanov just screams Boston Bruins.
The Boston Bruins have reportedly also shown interest in Noah Dobson of the Islanders as well.
For now it's just a waiting game.
