Ex-Boston Bruins defenseman contract terminated: An announcement just confirmed it
10 years ago, in 2015 Don Sweeney had one of the worst drafts in the NHL for the Boston Bruins.
During his first NHL Draft as GM, Don Sweeney ahd three consecutive picks at 13, 14, and 15 where he took Jakub Zboril, Jake DeBrusk, and Zach Senyshyn.
Out of all three players taken in the first-round, only Jake DeBrusk ended up becoming a true full-time NHL player in Boston.
Last year, Zboril was traded at the NHL trade deadline, and Senshyn ended up requested a trade from the Bruins, and it was granted.
Jakub Zboril's contract terminated
Zboril ended up playing for three teams in the NHL, but wasn't "good" enough to stay in the NHL, so he took his game overseas this past season.
He signed with the HC Dynamo Pardubice of the Czech Extraliga. After appearing in just 46 games with the club, Zboril is now looking for a new team for the 2025-26 season.
Both Zboril and Dynamo Pardubice agreed to terminate his contract after just 46 games, making him a free agent once again.
Zboril ended up signing a PTO with New Jersey before training camp, but didn't end up landing himself a contract which led to him going to play overseas.
During his time with the Boston Bruins, Zboril appeared in 76 NHL games scoring just one goal, with 15 assists, while averaging 15:38 of ice time a night.
