Fan favourites Nick Foligno and Taylor Hall Speak On Disappointing Year With The Boston Bruins
Taylor Hall and Nick Foligno are fortunate to be teammates again on the Chicago Blackhawks rebuild. But before they arrived in Chicago, they were a part of a winning Bruins squad. Yet unable to win a Stanley Cup, they shared their thoughts.
The Bruins during the 2022-2023 season held a record of 65-12-5 and 135 points, with Jim Montgomery leading the way.
Foligno and Hall were unable to secure the final prize, the Stanley Cup that season as the Florida Panthers would knock them out of the playoffs in the 2nd round.
They discussed the feeling of that season, how they should gone all the way, and how that Bruins team was capable of achieving more.
That season Foligno played 60 games and scored 26 points( 10 G, 16 A) with a +18. While Taylor Hall would prove to be a vital depth forward in 61 games scoring 36 points(16 G, 20 A)
«Yeah, we [expletive] that up,» Hall told DJ Bean and Pete Blackburn during an interview on the «What Chaos!» podcast.
«Yeah, I'm so pissed,» Foligno noted, adding: «We talked about it because the other night when we played [Boston on Dec. 4], we all got in the hallway after, because there were so many guys in our team that had played in Boston.
They were unable to land the ultimate prize that season as the Panthers would go on to face the Vegas Golden Knights in the Stanley Cup finals.
The pair would later be sent to the Chicago Blackhawks in a trade for defenseman Ian Mitchell, and Alec Regula.
While Regula is no longer a Bruin, and Ian Mitchell remains in the AHL, this seems like another bad trade on Sweeney's part.
The Bruins are missing the presence of players like Hall and Foligno who provided a spark missing in the lineup nowadays.
That team was extraordinary, and may be the explanation why it all ended too soon.
