A former Providence head coach in Lou Lamoriello, is allegedly on his way out of New York following a recent announcement.

It has been announced via NHL.com, that the New York Islanders organization will not be renewing Lou Lamoriello's contract as President and General Manager.
Take a look:
«The New York Islanders organization announced today that Lou Lamoriello's contract as President and General Manager will not be renewed. Effective immediately, Operating Partner John Collins will lead a search to find the next General Manager.

The Islanders extend a heartfelt thank you to Lou Lamoriello for his extraordinary commitment over the past seven years. His dedication to the team is in line with his Hall of Fame career.»

The New York Islanders have not been a good team for awhile, and things have not been working out with Lou Lamoriello.
Lamoriello has been the General Manager of the New York Islanders for the past seven years.
The Islanders advanced to the second round in the playoffs from 2019 to 2021 and advanced to the third round in both the 2019-20 and 2020-21 postseasons, marking the first time since 1984 they'd advanced to the third round in consecutive years.
In 2022 the Islanders ended up missing the playoffs, and then making it again in 2023.
In 2023 the Islanders made the playoffs but ended up losing in the first round, and then got eliminated first round in 2024 as well.
This year they have once again missed the playoffs, and it seems like the organization is getting prepared to make some big changes.
They will not be looking for another General Manager and president in the organization after it was revealed that he will not be getting his contract renewed with the organization.
Lamoriello was the head coach of Providence college from 1968-1986 spending 18 years with them before joining the New Jersey Devils organization and beginning his career in the NHL from there.
It's unfortunate that it's come to this, but the NHL is a business at the end of the day and changes are going to be made.
