Original article on Merkulov possibly getting claimed

After being placed on waivers, some new details came out about a Boston Bruins player possibly being claimed.
Today, the Boston Bruins made some more roster cuts, nine to be exact, and five of those players were placed on waivers.
Along with that, Frederic Brunet, Riley Duran, Brett Harrison, and Fabian Lysell were also sent down to the Providence Bruins.
Patrick Brown, Michael Callahan, Georgii Merkulov, Victor Soderstrom and Riley Tufte on waivers.

Frederic Brunet, Riley Duran, Brett Harrison and Fabian Lysell to report to Providence.
Merkulov was the surprise though, as everyone had high hopes he would take a big step, and make the opening night roster, but he didn't do that, and now has to clear waivers to be able to be re-assigned to the Providence Bruins.

Merkulov to be claimed off waivers

Due to the amount of success Merkulov has had in the American Hockey League, there is a good chance that the 24-year-old gets claimed, or at least generates some interest.
Michael DeRosa of The Hockey News had this to say on him possibly getting claimed:
"It is fair to wonder if a team looking for more skill could consider taking a shot on an intriguing prospect like Merkulov. The 5-foot-11 forward has consistently produced strong offense down at the AHL level since his arrival. This included this past season, as he recorded 15 goals and 54 points in 59 games for Providence. This was after he had 30 goals and 65 points in 67 games with Providence in 2023-24."

Another analyst on X had something similar to say:
I wonder if someone will put a claim in for Georgii Merkulov.

Been very productive in the AHL but just hasn't been able to make it work in Boston.
Do you think Merkulov is going to get claimed off of waivers?
