The former Bruins captain, Brad Marchand, has been involved in many speculations regarding where his next organization lies following his departure from Boston during the NHL 2025 Trade Deadline, and an insider has revealed five top teams the veteran could play for next season.
The 16-year Bruins veteran was dealt the unexpected this past NHL trade deadline, when he was traded to the Florida Panthers at the age of 37-years old, and with only a few years left of his hockey career, we have insight of where this fan-favorite is suggested to end up this off-season.
Five Front-Running Teams To Acquire Brad Marchand In The 2025 Off-Season
Although the Boston organization did the unthinkable of trading their veteran to an opposing team on March 7th, Marchand and the Bruins' management still remain on good terms.
This leaves an opportunity for the organization and their former captain to re-build on this incident, as there was no sense he or the Bruins had burned bridges with each other.
With that being said, Boston would be in need to get the money right with their former leader (somewhere in the area of his current salary of $6.125 million), and if they do so, it wouldn't be out of the question to see him return to his original roots.
The Colorado Avalanche are one of the odds-on favorites to win the Stanley Cup this season, and if Marchand is looking to take another ring home in his last few years of his career, playing on a contending team might just be his best option this off-season.
Not only would Marchand have a better opportunity in the contending aspect of the league, he would also offer the grit and playoff experience this organization could use.
Although the Penguins may be a long-shot in Marchand's future, the veteran is creeping his last couple year's within the organization, and playing with some incredible individuals may be very appealing to the long-term hockey lover.
Standing by clear-cut Hockey Hall-of-Famers such as Sidney Crosby, Evgeni Malkin, and Kris Letang, may just be what Brad desires in his last years in the NHL.
Despite the Maple Leafs possibly being a bigger long-shot than Pittsburgh, Brad values playing in the Original Six market, where the roots of the NHL began.
Additionally, the Maple Leafs will likely endure a massive change in the upcoming season, as they faltered an early playoff season last year, they might just repeat history.
This would give Marchand leverage in significant culture change, and what better way to re-build than to sign a proven winner.
The Lightning are looking to make another deep playoff push, and with of grittiness in their lineup, 37-year old Marchand could provide veteran leadership while leaving teams on edge every time he's on the ice.
