After drafting James Hagens 7th overall at the 2025 NHL Entry Draft, there has been some question about where he is going to play next season.
Well it seems like James Hagens is going to have to wait a little longer before he gets a shot with the Boston Bruins in the NHL.
Recently, Hagens had an interview with a media member from the NHL, where he kind of leaked his plans for the 2025-26 season.
James Hagens plans on returning to BC
Mike G. Morreale recently had an interview with James Hagens, and Hagens was talking about his goals heading into college next season.
«I want to be able to win a Beanpot, be able to win a national championship,» Hagens told NHL.com. «Everyone has their roles, but our team goal is winning. That's what we want to do. We fell short last year, but it's hopefully going to happen this year.»
Last year, Hagens played on a stacked team with players like Gabe Perreault, and Ryan Leonard, who are now in the NHL.
Although he will not have them for his sophomore season, Hagens is going to play a massive role in BC's offense next season.
Hagens ended up scoring 11 goals, 26 assists in 37 points for the Eagles last season, which was good enough for third on the team in points.
«The things he does well, he'll be able to carry and translate for BC but also right into the NHL,» BC head coach Greg Brown said. » Like any young player going to the NHL, you have to bring your floor up, and that means getting bigger, stronger and faster. But then it's about the details you need to play with to be successful, and again, that just takes time. He has a great hockey brain. He reads things quickly and clearly, so I think just the evolution of his game will be more of that this year.»
Watching his first development camp, he ended up impressing a lot of people, and there is a good chance that he makes the jump to the NHL sooner rather than later.
