Jeremy Swayman traded to the Edmonton Oilers: A new development has surfaced as the NHL draft approaches
According to
RG Media, Stan Bowman was in talks with the Boston Bruins regarding Swayman during the previous season, and now there is some talks that he may circle back.
«They weren't the only ones who had inquired about Swayman, but yes, I was told they poked around,» the source told RG.
According to a source, when the Bruins were having
contract talks with Swayman that ended up coming down to the wire, multiple teams checked in on him.
Sweeney always gave the teams interested in him the same answer:
«Sweeney consistently said, 'No' or 'Don't bother; we're going to sign him,' and he made it clear how much they valued Swayman,» the source said.
This source also stated that teams like the Colorado Avalanche, Seattle Kraken, Carolina Hurricanes, and Philadelphia Flyers checked in on Swayman's availability.
After securing the starting position,
Swayman had the worst year of his career holding a record of 22-29-7, with a 3.11 GAA, and a .892 SV%.
With all the moves the Boston Bruins made during the NHL trade deadline, Jeremy Swayman was a player that did not get moved, and according to Sweeney, it is because the Bruins still believe in him.
«Lots of guys were wondering again on Swayman, but the message was clear: the Bruins hadn't lost faith in him,» another source told RG.
Oilers may circle back on Jeremy Swayman
The Oilers once again lost in the Stanley Cup Finals to the Florida Panthers, and it was due to their goaltending once again.
McDavid did not hold back when speaking to the media on Thursday regarding his future with the organization, expressing some frustration.
«We're holding this together, trying to get it over the finish line,» McDavid said at a press conference Thursday when asked if and when he would be signing a contract extension.
«With that being said, ultimately I still need to do what's best for me and my family, and that's who you have to take care of first.»
Friday, the day after McDavid spoke to the media, Oilers GM Stan Bowman bluntly stated that they will be looking for a goaltender to improve their roster.
«The defense will have the least number of changes,» Bowman told the media. «I like how they played. The forwards and goalies are where we will have some changes.»
Swayman does not have any trade protection until July 1st, 2026 and there is a lot of speculation he could be on his way to Edmonton.
