Former Boston Bruins head coach Jim Montgomery has finally revealed why he was actually fired by the Boston Bruins last season.
Jim Montgomery was fired by the Boston Bruins not long into the 2024-25 season.
Whenever the firing first took place, there were some reports that Montgomery and Sweeney had a disagreement, which led to his firing.
But now Jim Montgomery has spoken about it, and it seems like that was not the reason at all.
Montgomery was a very good head coach, and after being fired, he took a head coaching job with the St. Louis Blues.
After being hired by the Blues, he ended up leading them to the playoffs where they took Winnipeg, a powerhouse team to 7 games.
Ultimately they ended up losing, but without Montgomery, they more then likely wouldn't have made it to the playoffs.
Now, Jim Montgomery has publicly revealed the reason on why he may have been fired by the Boston Bruins.
The real reason Jim Montgomery was fired
Jim Montgomery recently appeared on the Empty Netters podcast where he ended up speaking on the reason that led to his firing.
Montgomery said that culture was a main reason, stating they had it during the 2023-24 season, but he didn't see the same thing in the 2024-25 season.
He also went on to say that he should've worked on it more to make sure that it was maintained.
Culture is something you have to work on daily, and i saw that in 2023. I can't say i saw that in 2024.
I should've put more emphasis on making sure the culture was maintained.
