Joe Sacco Issued An Unexpected Statement Regarding Boston Bruins Goaltender And It Changes Things
After their embarrassing 6-2 loss to the Anaheim Ducks on Wednesday night, Boston Bruins head coach Joe Sacco had some unexpected words regarding Joonas Korpisalo, and it could change things moving forward.
The Boston Bruins once again barley got any offence against one of the worst teams in the league. Although they did finally get over 20 shots for the first time in their last five games, but were still outshot by the Ducks 37-25.
#NHLBruins losing streak hits six as they fall 7-2 to the LA Kings. With only 13 shots on net, it's the fourth time in their last five outings they've been held under 20 SOG.
An embarrassing game from an embarrassing hockey team.
By the outcome of the game, you would think that Joonas Korpisalo had a terrible night, but the score didn't tell the entire story, just like
many of Korpisalo's games this year.
Joe Sacco With Unexpected Words On Joonas Korpisalo
Joonas Korpisalo, in the games he has started this year for the Boston Bruins, has been super solid, even though his record may say other wise, and Joe Sacco backed that up with his comments following their loss last night.
After the game, Sacco met with the media and stated that Korpisalo was great for the Bruins last night, and it wasn't his fault they lost the game. Instead called out the players in front of him stating they have to dig in and find a way to start and finish the game on time.
Joe Sacco on NESN, "Korpi (Joonas Korpisalo) played a good game tonight. Certainly, wasn't his fault...It's up to us to dig in and make sure that we're playing the right way from the start to the finish of the game." #BOSvsANA
Korpisalo has only appeared in 25 games for the Bruins this year, starting 22 of them, and has a record of 10-9-3 with a 2.89 GAA, and a .893 SV%, but his stats don't prove how good he has been for the Bruins.
In most of the games Korpisalo has appeared in, he has given the Bruins a chance to win them, but most of the time gets let down by poor defensive play, and a lack of offence.
In most of the games he has appeared in, he has been the best Bruins player on the ice.
Stop me if I've tweeted this before (and I have), Joonas Korpisalo has been the #NHLBruins best player tonight. #BOSvsANA
Coming into the year, there were a lot of question marks surrounding Korpisalo after having a very down year the previous year with the Ottawa Senators, but he has not been one to blame for the way the season has gone, and some have even stated that he has played better then Swayman has this year.
