Morgan Geekie's Fate With The Boston Bruins Was Just Confirmed By GM Don Sweeney
The Boston Bruins had one of their worst seasons in nearly a decade, finishing dead last in the Atlantic Division for the first time in team history, and finishing tied for last in the Eastern Conference.
One highlight of the year was
Morgan Geekie's play, and now Don Sweeney has revealed what his plans on for him moving forward.
Geekie ended up finding his game late in the season, but the chemistry he built with
David Pastrnak was unmatched. He finished the year with 33 goals, 24 assists for 57 points in 77 games.
Don Sweeney Reveals His Plans With Morgan Geekie
«We've been in constant communication with Morgan's camp since the time the season ended,» Sweeney told Steve Conroy of the Boston Herald on Wednesday. «I have no issues with the timeline of our discussions. We'd like to get it done. We know that it's going to be somewhere between a one- and an eight-year deal. How's that?»
Geekie is a top candidate that could be offer sheeted this off-season, but Sweeney made it clear that he is not worried about that. AFP Analytics revealed Morgan Geekie's projected contract and predicted that he is going to earn a four-year deal with an AAV of $6.59 million.
This is a solid deal for a 30 goal scorer, and one that outperformed multiple players that are making a lot more money than he is. In the two-years he has been with the Boston Bruins, Geekie has set new highs in goals both years scoring 17 in 2023-24, and then 33 in 2024-25.
