Two former Bruins have proved to the Boston organization's general manager, Don Sweeney, that he made a major mistake by trading them, as the two players continue to thrive within the NHL with rivals.

The Florida Panthers are reaping the rewards of Boston's trade decisions this season, as former Bruins, Brad Marchand and A.J. Greer, continue to shine in the 2025 Stanley Cup Playoffs.
Marchand, Boston's longtime veteran and captain, and Greer, a gritty depth forward, have become essential to Florida's postseason success, leaving Bruins fans questioning their organization's moves.

Brad Marchand and A.J. Greer prove Don Sweeney made a major mistake as they continue to thrive with rivals as they make airwaves in postseason contention

The Boston Bruins' fan-favourited Brad Marchand was traded at the 2025 NHL Trade Deadline, for a conditional 2027 second-round pick (upgradable to a first), and has been a revelation.
The 37-year old leads Florida with 12 points in just 12 playoff games, including a game-winning overtime goal against the Toronto Maple Leafs and a historic fifth Game 7 win over the Leafs.
Meanwhile, Greer, claimed off waivers, delivered a team-high seven hits in Game 7 against Toronto, embodying the physicality Florida craves.
The Boston Bruins' decision to trade Marchand, unable to extend his contract, and let Greer go has undoubtedly backfired.
The Bruins missed postseason contention whilst the Panthers secured a first-round pick or Boston (2027 or 2028) by advancing to the Eastern Conference Final with Marchand playing over 50% of their games.
Losing Marchand's intangibles and Greer's grit has undoubtedly left the Bruins roster lacking.
And whilst Florida pushes for another Cup, the Bruins' front office faces scrutiny for departing with two key contributors who are now thriving elsewhere.
Do you think the Boston Bruins organization made a mistake trading Marchand and Greer?
