After signing a bunch of depth players to contracts during the off-season, it was unclear what the Bruins opening night roster was going to look like, but it appears that a goal scoring winger is stealing a roster spot from a fan favourite.
Matt Poitras has surprised people, and made the Boston Bruins opening night roster the past two years, but it seems like this year he won't.
The Bruins have announced
two rounds of roster cuts already, and Poitras is still up with the main group, but it looks like he won't be for much longer.
Roster bubble watch: No Johnny Beecher or Matt Poitras in the lineup for today's preseason finale, but
Fraser Minten is in.
According to Ty Anderson, an insider for the Boston Bruins, he has Poitras not making the roster, but instead a newly signed goal scoring winger stealing his spot.
Anderson has Blumel making the roster over both of Beecher and Poitras:
Right now I have him making team. I think Poitras is odd man out. Perhaps Beecher too depending on how many they wanna carry and where.
New details just came out and it seems like this is not the case. Matej Blumel has been placed on waivers by the Bruins, and will report to the AHL if not claimed, and Poitras was assigned as well. Beecher is still with the main squad.
