NHL Department of Player Safety explains why Hartman got 10 games
«
Ryan Hartman contends he is attempting to use his hand to regain his balance using Stützle for support, and their fall to the ice is accidental.»
«We disagree. He chooses to take advantage of a vulnerable player in an unacceptable fashion.»
This also isn't Hartman's first time, he is a repeat offender which doesn't help his cause at all. But the biggest reason he got 10 games was due to the fact they felt it wasn't a hockey play.
"It is important to note that this is not a hockey play. Hartman contends that he is attempting to use his hand to regain his balance using Stützle for support and that their fall to the ice is accidental. We disagree."
Hartman was handed a major penalty off of the initial play, and was ejected from the game, but with how terrible the Player Safety has been this season, many believed he was just going to get a slap on the wrist.
