Today, the National Hockey League ended up announcing their 32 nominees for the 2024-25 King Clancy Memorial Trophy, and the Boston Bruins made a massive announcement regarding Charlie McAvoy.

The Boston Bruins revealed that they have nominated Charlie McAvoy for the King Clancy Memorial Trophy.
Charlie McAvoy has been named the #NHLBruins nominee for the 2025 King Clancy Trophy, which is presented to the player "who best exemplifies leadership qualities on and off the ice and has made a noteworthy humanitarian contribution in his community."
The King Clancy trophy is presented to the player that "best exemplifies leadership qualities on and off the ice and has made a noteworthy humanitarian contribution in his community." It was named after Frank "King" Clancy, who was a beloved figure in the league for a long time. He was a player, referee, coach, manager and goodwill ambassador.
Nominees get selected by their own club, and the winner gets chosen by a selection committee that consists of NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman, and former winners of the King Clancy Trophy.

Previous Bruins Winners

Previously, the Boston Bruins had Patrice Bergeron win this award in 2013, Dave Poulin in 1993, and Ray Bourque in 1992.
McAvoy has been with the Boston Bruins organization for eight-years, his entire career, and consistently makes a positive impact on the community by participating in team events, and his own personal initiatives. McAvoy has taken part in the team's annual shopping event, hospital visits, and charitable meet and greets this season.
In November of last year, McAvoy continued to do his annual Thanksgiving tradition where he donates pies to several local shelters in the city.
Charlie McAvoy also ended up visiting the Boston Children's Hospital in December to visit with pediatric parents and delivered toys that the team ended up purchasing during the teams annual shopping event.
McAvoy and Hampus Lindholm both went and visited three children from the Make-A-Wish foundation during a home game in March, and watched some of the game in a suite with their families.
Later on in the year, he also ended up hosting a guest from the Home for Little Wanderers, which is a nonprofit dedicated to supporting families and children a suite at games to give them the opportunity to attend games.
McAvoy is definitely a solid candidate to win this award.
