The beginning of the new NHL season is right around the corner, and now there is some speculation that the Boston Bruins could place a newly acquired defenseman on waivers and lose him for free before the beginning of the season.
Training camp is right around the corner, being less than a month away, and the Boston Bruins are looking to assemble a competitive roster to try and get back into the playoffs after missing them for the first time in eight years.
Marco Sturm is looking for recently signed depth players to play a big role in this, by strengthening their existing core.
One player they will be looking at is recently signed Columbus Blue Jackets defenseman
Jordan Harris.
Harris was a third-round pick of the Montreal Canadiens in the 2018 NHL Draft, and made his debut in 2021-22 appearing in 10 games.
Despite his size, his play ended up earning him a bigger role with the Canadiens, appearing in 65 games the next year, and then 56 in 2023-24.
Bruins could end up losing Harris to waivers
This signing is seen as a low-risk, high-reward signing by Don Sweeney, but he has yet to find his footing in the NHL, and this could lead to him being placed on waivers according to
Heavy.com.
If Jordan Harris can't prove he's cut out for the NHL, he could find himself on waivers even before the end of training camp.
If Harris does end up failing to secure a spot on the Boston Bruins roster, they have some options they could replace him with as the seventh defenseman.
Do you think newly acquired Boston Bruins defenseman Jordan Harris is going to make the roster next season?
