The Boston Bruins organization are reportedly set to heavily pursue two big named free agents this off-season, and it is surprising.

The Bruins are in desperate need to revamp this offseason, especially offensively, as the organization came in the Boston six in the league for just about every meaningful statistic during the 2024/25 NHL season.
Some could argue that they were dealt an unfortunate head due to the several key pieces that were traded away at the dealing and that the team was injury-ridden, but overall, the team was far below their standard by every measure.
However, as a result of their deadline moves and several expiring contracts, the team's newly re-signed general manager, Don Sweeney, is set to head into free agency with around $28 million in cap space.
That is a sizeable amount for the organization to play with, and Sweeney will undoubtedly look to fill this obvious gap within their roster.
That being said, let's take a look at two big named free agents that the Boston Bruins organization is set to heavily pursue this off-season.
Marner is undoubtedly the most skilled free agent on the market this off-season, but that entails he will be traded at an expensive cost.
However, acquiring this forward could bring Boston to a whole new level.
«If the Bruins choose to sign him, he would immediately become the most dynamic offensive teammate David Pastrnak has had in his career. While Pastrnak and Geekie both had great seasons, the team was clearly missing the star power on the offensive end to remain competitive. Signing the Maple Leafs' winger would go a long way to addressing that.» wrote Ryan Ventura with thehockeywriters.com
Although there may be bigger names available on the market this free agency, the Bruins are in desperate need of help offensively and Boeser could undoubtedly aid in this area.
«Brock Boeser would be a top-six winger that the Bruins could very well target this offseason, who would immediately inject additional life into their offense.» wrote Ryan Ventura with thehockeywriters.com
