Brad Marchand Shocks Boston Bruins Fans With Comments After Making It To The Stanley Cup Finals
After clinching his ticket back into the Stanley Cup Finals with the Florida Panthers, Brad Marchand shocked Bruins fans with his latest comments.
The Boston Bruins traded Brad Marchand to the Panthers during the NHL trade deadline, for this exact reason, so he can chase another Stanley Cup.
He is now back in the Stanley Cup Final for the first time since 2019 when the Boston Bruins faced off against the St. Louis Blues, but this time with the Florida Panthers.
Now Marchand has stunned fans with his latest comments after clinching the Finals.
Marchand Shocks Bruins Fans With Comments
«I definitely didn't expect to be here in this jersey,» Marchand, who had an assist in the win, told TNT's Jackie Redmond after Florida's Game 5 win over the Carolina Hurricanes. «But I'm very happy I am.»
After spending his entire 16-year career with the Boston Bruins, Marchand requested a trade to go to Florida. Marchand has one Stanley Cup ring, and is now looking to add to that.
«It's special. When you've been around for a while, you realize how few opportunities you have to be part of something like this,» Marchand said. «Just enjoying every moment. Grateful for the opportunity."
It's the third straight year that the Florida Panthers have clinched their ticket to the Stanley Cup Final, and they are looking to win the Cup in back-to-back years.
«When you've been through it before and have gone all the way, you see the different way momentum swings can happen throughout a game and how you can take advantage of that,» Marchand told reporters.
Marchand and the Panthers will be facing off against the Oilers in the Finals once again after they beat the Dallas Stars in 5 games last night.
«We haven't accomplished anything yet,» Marchand said. «The toughest team we're gonna face is coming up next. If you don't do the job there, you didn't win anything. We're excited, but it's just like any other round. There's a huge job to do moving forward and we have to prepare for that now.»
