Tyler Bertuzzi opens up on why he left his former organization

Former Boston Bruin, Tyler Bertuzzi has opened up on why he betrayed a former organization he was apart of.

After leaving the Boston Bruins, Tyler Bertuzzi joined the Toronto Maple Leafs, and split some time playing with Auston Matthews, Max Domi, and John Tavares.

Tyler Bertuzzi didn't seem to mesh very well with the Toronto Maple Leafs as he did with the Boston Bruins, but would play an important role for them in the playoffs. During the regular season, Bertuzzi would score 21 goals, along with 22 assists for 43 points.

Ultimately Tyler Bertuzzi priced himself out of Toronto with his playoff performance, and Maple Leafs General Manager Brad Treliving wanted to retain Max Domi over Tyler Bertuzzi. Bertuzzi made it clear that he wanted to stay with the Toronto Maple Leafs, but would later leave the organization in free agency.

During free agency, Tyler Bertuzzi would sign a four-year $22 million contract with the Chicago Blackhawks.

The reason that Tyler Bertuzzi wanted to join the Chicago Blackhawks:

«A young team that's hungry and looking to try and slowly build something,» Bertuzzi said. «I went through it with Detroit. Hopefully here I can stick it out and be here for the turnaround. It was an opportunity to play, play with good players.»

Tyler Bertuzzi Left The Maple Leafs Because Of This

Tyler Bertuzzi is looking forward to helping the Blackhawks progress in their rebuild.

Bertuzzi knows how to play in the big moments, and is very good at getting under the skin of opponents.

Continues to grow from a forward expected to make his living as a role-playing agitator to one capable of playing big minutes and being a consistent offensive producer. Is a terrific competitor who comes to play every night. Goes to the net, gets his nose dirty and should continue to improve as he moves through his mid-20s.
