Since the Edmonton Oilers lost in the Stanley Cup Finals for a second year in a row to the Florida Panthers, there has been some doubt surrounding McDavid's future with the organization, and now some new details have emerged on the Boston Bruins acquiring the generational talent.

Throughout the off-season, with all the doubt around Connor McDavid's future in Edmonton, the Boston Bruins have consistently been linked to him.
With that being said, some new details have emerged that confirm his fate with the Bruins.
McDavid is entering the final year on his contract with the Edmonton Oilers, and is taking his time with an extension, which has caused a lot of speculation.
«I said at the end of June that I intend to take my time with it, and I still feel the same way,»

Recently, while in Calgary Connor McDavid had this to say about his future:
«I have every intention to win in Edmonton. That's my only focus.»

If McDavid were to hit the open market, he would be one of the most sought after free agents to ever hit free agency.
His next contract is expected to be the largest in NHL history, possibly getting over $20 million. The Boston Bruins have $19.93 million in cap space next off-season, and some new details just confirmed if they will target him or not.

Boston Bruins will not be acquiring McDavid if he hits the free agent market

According to Andrew Fantucchio of Boston Hockey Now, the Boston Bruins will not be a team trying to acquire McDavid if he does hit free agency.
These players are going to consume 59% of the cap hit until 2030. Although the cap is rising, signing McDavid would only further their financial strain.
Fantucchio says he can see McDavid wanting out if the Oilers once again don't win the Stanley Cup.
«From the outside looking in, it seems that McDavid wants to remain in Edmonton and be an Oiler for life. However, that desire is vastly overshadowed by the one he has to win the Stanley Cup

He links the Toronto Maple Leafs, Florida Panthers, Dallas Stars, Colorado Avalanche, Tampa Bay Lightning, and Vegas Golden Knights as teams that could be in contention for McDavid.
