Tragic Passing Strikes The Hockey Community As Former Player And Coach Tragically Passed Away

It's always hard to report something like this, but the community in
community in Nova Scotia has been hit hard after an announcement confirmed that goalie coach Peter Johnson has passed away at 65-years-old.
On March 2nd, it was announced that he passed away, while being surrounded by his loved ones at the Aberdeen Hospital, in Glasgow Nova Scotia.
During his career in St. Johns Newfoundland, Peter Johnson was loved and touched numerous lives.
Peter's followed in his fathers footsteps, as they both shared the same passion and love for the sport of hockey, and his father also played on a local, national, and international level of the game.
Johnson went on to coach kids all over the world including St John's, NL to Greenville, SC, and even in France, touching many kids lives.
He also went on to get an engineering degree from the Memorial University in Newfoundland, and worked at the Michelin Plant in 1988, also following his passion for engineering across the world.
Johnson began his engineering career in the Pictou Plant in Nova Scotia, and during his 37 years in the field, he took advantage of it to take his family to multiple places including France, Greenville, SC and back to Pictou County in 2019.
Peter had many talents. He wasn't just a great goalie coach who helped a bunch of kids achieve great things along the years, but he was also a great engineer.
He made many contributions to Michelin over his career and one of his proudest moments was when he recently received a Lifetime Achievement Award for his impact globally to Michelin. His endless energy, boundless vision, and commitment inspired all who worked with him to make progress in ways they never thought possible.
Johnson was also a huge Philadelphia Flyers fan, and was loyal to the fan base his entire life.

Visitation will be held on March 5th at 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm and 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm at HW Angus Funeral Home in New Glasgow. There will be a funeral service held on Friday, March 7th starting at 2:00 pm at Our Lady of Lourdes Parish in Stellarton, NS. Following the funeral will be a reception at the Sister Catherine Steele Center located behind the Parish.
