Florida Panthers forward Sam Bennett faced a lot of backlash after another cheap shot against Leafs Anthony Stolarz, and now the DoPS has revealed his suspension fate.
Following the game, the Toronto Maple Leafs were calling on the NHL Department of Player Safety to hold Bennett accountable after Stolarz was injured on a hit to the head in front of his net.
"Elbow to the head. Yeah. Clear. Clear. Clear as day," Maple Leafs head coach Craig Berube said of the incident post-game. "I think we handled it the way we should handle it. I'm not sure why there's not a call on it. But, I get it. They missed calls. But it's clearly a penalty."
"The ref was standing right there when it happened," Panthers head coach Paul Maurice said, defending the on-ice decision without commenting further.
NHL DoPS Reveal Suspension Fate For Sam Bennett
The league continues to make a joke out of themselves as it was just revealed that there is going to be no punishment on
Bennett.
Stolarz did stay in the game after taking Sam Bennett's forearm to his head that would cause him to drop down to the ice right in the middle of a Panthers power play in the second period.
Around 10 minutes after it happened, Stolarz skated to the Leafs bench where he would throw up during a commercial break, and was removed from the game right after this happened.
There was no response from the Toronto Maple Leafs players on this hit, but it will be interesting to see if they do something in game 2 which takes place on Wednesday night.
