After the NHL trade deadline, it was reported that the Toronto Maple Leafs asked Mitch Marner to waive his no-movement clause. Now it's being reported that Mitch Marner and a journalist got into an altercation, and it's pointing to Marner leaving in the off-season.

Since the deadline, there has been a lot of questions about Mitch Marner's fate with the Toronto Maple Leafs. The reason many have been questioning Marner's fate moving forward is due to General Manager Brad Treliving asking Marner to waive his no-movement clause that would have saw him go to Carolina in exchange for Mikko Rantanen.
Throughout everything that has happened, Marner has insisted that he wants to remain a Toronto Maple Leaf, and that he loves playing for the Leafs, but a Toronto journalist has called out Marner on his bluff.

Altercation Between Journalist and Marner

Toronto Sun journalist Steve Simmons recently revealed that Mitch Marner did not immediately decline the trade that would send him to the Carolina Hurricanes, instead he stated that Marner gave the idea some serious consideration before ultimately rejecting it.
Mitch Marner took the night to sleep on it.

Simmons revealed that Marner actually took a night to sleep on the request, and now Simmons is calling Marner's bluff that he actually doesn't want to play in Toronto long-term.
For all he talks about wanting to be a Maple Leaf for life, his only team, his only town, when he was asked about waiving the no-trade arrangement in his contract, he didn't answer immediately.

Asking Marner to waiver his no-movement clause is a terrible look for the Toronto Maple Leafs, and it's hard to see him actually re-signing with the Toronto Maple Leafs after the fact.
There have been some rumours that have linked Marner to other teams, and the Boston Bruins are one of the teams.
If the Boston Bruins can add someone of Marner's caliber in the off-season it would drastically change the outlook of the team.
