21-year old MHL goalie dies in Russia, police investigating
Vladislav Zaitsev was a 21-year old goaltender who grew up playing for the Yaroslavl Lokomotiv development system. In 2019-2020 Zaitsev graduated from the Lokomotiv program to the Chekhov Russian Knights Club where he played his last professional game.
Tragically over the weekend Zaitsev passed away after falling out of the window of a home in Yaroslavl. Police arrived at the scene, found the body and are still investigating the nature of his death.
Zaitsev's body remains in possession of the Yaroslavl medical examiner who is waiting to determine a cause of death.
This is very sad news for the hockey world and our thoughts are with the Zaitsev family.
