The Boston Bruins will welcome back star forward Brad Marchand on Thursday night as the winger's six-game suspension has finally come to an end. But, rather than slotting in alongside his usual linemates, Patrice Bergeron and David Pastrnak, Marchand will be lining up across a new face on the B's top line.
Head Coach Bruce Cassidy will indeed be turning to 25-year-old Jake DeBrusk to play alongside the dynamic duo comprised of Bergeron and Marchand.
One can only wonder; is this a move to balance out the lines evenly, or are the Bruins instead looking to showcase DeBrusk ahead of the March 21 trade deadline?
A first round pick of the Bruins back in 2015, DeBrusk made it public information that he requested a trade back in November.
In 45 games this season, DeBrusk is currently tied for seventh in the Bruins scoring race with 17 points. It will be interesting to see if his promotion to the top line can spark his offensive output and generate interest from teams looking to land him in a potential trade.
