The Boston Bruins will enjoy one more off day before getting back on the practice ice Friday to prepare for Saturday's game at the Montreal Canadiens.
When the Bruins started their bye week, they had a one point lead on the Toronto Maple Leafs for second place in the Atlantic Division and when they return to game action, they will still be in second place.
The Maple Leafs had two games while the Bruins were off and missed an opportunity to jump ahead of the Bruins. They lost 3-2 in overtime to the Columbus Blue Jackets on Monday night and lost 4-3, in regulation, at home to the lowly Ottawa Senators last night. The Maple Leafs now begin their bye week and will be off until January 16.
The Bruins have a chance to put some space between themselves and the Maple Leafs as they have two games before the Maple Leafs return to action; Saturday in Montreal and then a hole game against
Tyler Seguin and the Dallas Stars on Monday.
A four-point cushion will look nice in the race for home-ice advantage in the first round of the Stanley Cup playoffs.
