The Boston Bruins are taking a very small gamble.
The team announced that they've signed Jan Kovar to an AHL PTO with the Providence Bruins.
Kovar was one of the highly touted European free agents this summer who wound up signing with the New York Islanders.
It worked out to be a complete disaster with the Islanders and the team terminated his contract just a couple of months after signing the one year $2million deal.
Kovar had 35 points in 54 games last season with Metallurg Magnitogorsk of the KHL and registered 23 goals the year before.
If Kovar can earn himself a contract, he could end up possibly being the 13th forward the Bruins are looking for.
However first he has to prove that he can at least skate with the AHL.
