Boston Bruins defenseman Charlie McAvoy wore a non-contact jersey and participated in the full-team practice Monday morning for the first time since undergoing shoulder surgery this summer.
Jim Montgomery also announced that McAvoy would be travelling with the team on the upcoming three-game road trip, but only to be able to keep practicing with the entire team.
They don't expect him to play in the next three games; however, it does sound like he's ahead of schedule in his rehab.
McAvoy spoke to the media following practice to discuss the progress he's made so far:
''We don't have a choice but to be patient with something like this, or it'll just drive you mad for six months ... you wanna be out there playing, but we're doing really well, and we're getting close.''
''We still don't have a definitive date. We're checking boxes and working really hard and getting excited.''
McAvoy reiterated that even in a hypothetical world where the team was struggling, nothing would be different.
The Bruins' early success is nothing more than an extra positive motivation to get back into the lineup at 100 percent.
