Trent Frederic was the Bruins number-one star Thursday night, as they started the road trip with a big 5-2 win over the L.A. Kings.
Not only did he drop the gloves when the game was tied 2-2, but followed that up with two goals in 34 seconds in the third period to insure a Boston victory.
Frederic had a spirited scrap with Kings agitator Brendan Lemieux in the second, and it just happened to be the third fight in three years between the two.
Post-game, Freddy had a hilarious reaction to his fight with Lemieux, who was playing just his third game since December 22nd after multiple healthy scratches:
''He was kind of running around. I think it was his first game so he had a lot of energy.Good for him, I guessI don't know him. Why not [keep fighting him]? I'll keep doing it if he wants to.''
It's almost become an annual bout for Frederic and Lemieux, who also fought on February 12th, 2021, and February 28th, 2022.
Line mate
Nick Foligno also had nothing but praise for Frederic, who is enjoying a breakout season.
''He can make a difference in so many different ways. That's what makes him specialhe's not just valuable with his fists, he's valuable with his presence on the ice and his ability to score, his ability to create space for everybody else.''
''I was thrilled for him. He stepped up and fought a really tough kid. It seemed to kind of spark him and the team. He gets two huge goals for us. That's the Trent Frederic that I think everyone sees and he's really showing it consistently now.''
The 24-year-old is up to 9 goals and 7 assists in 38 games this season. His previous career-high was 8 goals and 10 assists in 60 games last season.
