The Ohio State d-man is a finalist for the Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year alongside Michigan's Owen Power and Minnesota's Brock Faber.
Mason Lohrei was selected by the Bruins with the 58th overall pick of the 2020 NHL Draft and has been progessing steadily since.
A freshman for the Buckeyes, the 6'4'' blueliner has shown throughout the 2021-22 campaign that he has above-average puck skills, great vision and he's a strong skater with terrific edgework.
Lohrei leads Ohio State with 25 helpers and sits second on the team with 29 points in 31 games. Those stats place the defenseman inside the Big Ten Conference's top 10 leaders in terms of both points and assists.
Lohrei was named Big Ten Star of the Week twice this year and now hopes to be named Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year when the winners are revealed next week, on March 15.
