The 2022 inductees for the Hockey Hall of Fame are being honoured this weekend in Toronto, and a special moment occurred before the Maple Leafs and Pittsburgh Penguins game Friday night.
Longtime Leafs' defenseman Borje Salming was in attendance for the first time since being diagnosed with ALS back in July. Salming's condition has gotten so bad he's unable to eat without a feeding tube or speak.
However, as several other Maple Leafs' greats were being honoured, Salming was given a long-standing ovation from the crowd in Toronto, which brought Salming (and Darryl Sittler) to tears.
The Swede is still the Maple Leafs' all-time points leader for a defenseman in franchise history.
